My thanks to the committee for my invitation to judge male dogs at this show.
I had a good entry with few absentees. As I have found in the past there were a number of poor movers, mainly in in the early classes. All the dogs in the Veteran class were excellent in movement, putting some much younger to shame! So many judges over the years have commented about bad movement in the breed, this never seems to change. If it is structurally sound it will move well anyway… All the exhibits were clean and very well groomed. They were a credit to their owners.

Thank you all for giving me the honour of going over many lovely butterflies and the Committee for running such a friendly show.

On the whole, the bitches were sound, with only a few exhibiting bad fronts, toplines have improved, teeth I found could do with some more attention to cleanliness. I noted a few low ear sets (ears should be at a forty five degree angle to the head) which unfortunately detracts from the overall appearance of the breed. On a positive note I found size mostly within the standard, and single silky coat. We must remember that it is not a coat which is intended to touch the floor like the Maltese breed.
