Three Counties at the Malvern Showground is next on the agenda for the Breed Notes. We were not at the show this year and unfortunately no snippets have come through except for the results. As far as I am aware the weather was dry, so hopefully the rings outside could be in use. Much better surroundings to spend your day in, than the delectable designer sheds!

Mark Cocozza was giving cc’s for the first time in the breed and he found his principal winners to be as follows: BCC/BOB Jean & Roger Banfield’s and handling was co-owner Caroline Lee- Slater Jorgealin Cast A Spell For Kingshaven. Congratulations to everyone and of course the breeder Lynn George –Evans. DCC/BP was Judith King’s youngster Skyvana Tom Thumb Sarasha with the breeder, Sophie Langdon handling. RDCC Sue Stanbury & Broughton’s Inixia Follower Of Fashion (taf) and the RBCC William’s Cintarshe Dancing Light Johnasta.

One Open Show to report at The Royal Cornwall Agricultural Show where the breed judge was Miss J. Lewis (Carleeto) and the TGP judge Mrs M. Wilson (Amelek). Sue Stanbury had a lovely day with Inixia Bella Bella taking TPGP2.

A recent announcement from the press office of the Kennel Club states on the use of electrical equipment at shows. The Kennel Club is becoming increasingly concerned at the amount of electrical equipment being used by exhibitors at shows, including electrical hair dryers and hair straightness and other grooming devices.

Electrical equipment should not be brought to shows unless absolutely necessary. In rare instances where it might be required, it should be PAT tested and permission sought from the secretary of the show before used.

The Kennel Club has also been informed of recent instances of exhibitors commandeering certain areas of a venue in order to have access to power points, so as to use electrical grooming equipment. This is totally unacceptable and particularly unfair on the breeds whose allocated areas have been cramped because of this selfish behaviour.

A Kennel Club spokesman said “A number of exhibitors using electrical equipment at shows, appear to be on the increase, which is of concern to both show societies and the Kennel Club. We have even heard of instances of dogs being brought to shows sopping-wet, which is totally unnecessary, with most grooming be done at home, with the dog merely requiring a quick ‘brush up’ before going into the ring. These are conformation dog shows and not grooming competitions, after all”.

Good luck to all exhibitors who have been at Border Union and those who are going to Blackpool. For those of you caravanning or motor homing, may the sunshine beam down 24/7 for you.
