20 November 2015 – Dog World

Northern & Eastern Counties Papillon Club held their open show with Brian Lees (Lafford) judging. Jerry Munroe the clubs secretary has kindly sent in details of all that went on at the show, Jerry writes; On Saturday 7 November the N & E Counties Papillon Club held our Open Show at Thorpe Willoughby Village Hall. The heavens opened as we arrived to set up the show but the Committee all pulled together and we were ready in record time. It was lovely to see our Chair Eileen Roberts back on her feet after her recent accident and wish both her and daughter Caroline continued good recovery from their injuries. By the time judging started the sun had come out and the day remained dry throughout the rest of the show. Our judge Brian Lees (Lafford Papillons) had a good entry of dogs to go over. Best in Show & Best Puppy in Show went to Lynda Woodrow’s young bitch Lynflyer Winter Sparkle. Best Veteran & Reserve Best Bitch was Heather Aitkin’s Jaroma Geena Gee at Elfuago Best Dog, Reserve BIS and BOS was Melanie Mann’s boy Melangel Time To Shine, with Reserve Best Dog going to Wendy Waters’ Sweetbriar Sticks An Stones JW. Best Puppy Dog was Melanie Mann’s Melangel X Factor. There were no Phalenes present at the show. The JH classes were judged by Alison Walker (Kayceekay Cavaliers) and Best JH in Show was Caragh McGrath (16). Alison was kept busy all day as she also stewarded for Brian – we hope you both enjoyed your day. Christine Macfarlane and family provided their usual high standard of home cooking which as always was well received. It was lovely to see Peter and Teresa Cullen visit the show with their new puppies. Good luck Peter with your continued treatment. Sadly, Alison and Michael Atkins have decided to step down from the Committee and from running the Club Stall to spend more time with their dogs. We shall miss them greatly and thank them both for their hard work and valuable contributions to the Committee. On a final note, all places for the hands on assessments of our Breed Specific Seminar on 7 February 2016 are now booked up but places are still available for the breed talk and lunch. Please contact Penny Robins (01909 479672/07790 039907) for further details.

Thank you Jerry, it is always nice to hear the news first hand and I hope everyone present have a lovely day. Thorpe Willoughby is perfect for an open show as the atmosphere is always friendly and inviting and just the right size for a social day with friends.

News has come in from other open shows up and down the country. Susie and Margaret Orchard had a great day at Minehead & DCS Open Show their new import Ger Ch. Alex’ Eye Of The Tiger at Panspayon (imp Swe) taking BOB and then TGP2 under Mr Keith Baldwin (Nightstorm).

Petula Humphreys took her youngster Caraideas The Extra Mile To Gloynbyw along to Rhyl CS and I am sure was delighted taking TPGP2 under Brenda Roberts. Another show winner was Sue Stanbury who had a successful day at Camborne & Redruth CS winning the TGP with Inixia Saucy Sam under Mrs M Lee Well done everyone..

News has come through that Margaret Unwin had a fall whilst going down steps to the garden. She managed to reach a phone to ring her neighbour who called for an ambulance. When in hospital poor Margaret then had to undergo surgery for a broken and dislocated ankle, ouch, that sounds painful.
Hope things improve soon for you Margaret and I am sure all the Papillon exhibitors across the UK, wish you a speedy recovery.

As Jerry mentioned earlier, how nice to hear Teresa and Peter Cullen’s were at N&ECPC show. I hope next year you will be able to once again attend and exhibit at the shows, we have missed you not being there.

For all those Papillon lovers that are not perhaps one hundred per cent at the moment, I wish you a speedy recovery including Sue Morrell who I believe has an operation mid November.

I am delighted to bring news that LKA has a good attendance of Papillons with an entry of 162/164. Looks like Mr Peter Jolley our judge is in for a busy day. LKA is always a happy show to be at with the Christmas feel very much in the presence. Lots of trade stands to browse for those extra four paws Christmas presents.

Good luck at the shows you are attending and be careful on the roads.
