02 June 2017 – Dog World

As all exhibitors head north for Bonnie Scotland, it is a busy weekend for Papillon exhibitors with two shows on the show calendar. First up on the Friday was May SKC. Always a good show, with the committee making sure everything runs smoothly along. The show is situated undercover in the Highland Hall, so the weather can throw whatever it wants at us and everyone stays snug and warm. The hall may not be the best for youngsters attending their first show as it can be rather noisy due to the number of dogs present, but rings are of a generous size and the BIS ring is decked out smartly to fit the occasion.

Unfortunately due to circumstances I couldn’t attend this year, so Glenn was travelling up solo with the four paws. I have decided it is far worse staying at home, you are bag of nerves and you get absolutely zilch done all day. All you do its watch the clock all day. Miss Leila Tarabad (Khatibi) was taking on the task of giving tickets for the first time for the breed, so a big day for her, I am sure. Miss Tarabad, well respected in Cavalier circles had been appointed to judge the Aug SKC but had been brought forward to May with the sad news of Dominic Browne’s passing.

I believe there was a minutes silence held before judging commenced for Dominic. I believe the day went along smoothly and calmly with Miss Tarabad finding her principal winners as follows. DCC/BOB Irene & Glenn Robb’s Ch Gleniren Shootin Starmaker Sunshoo thrilled as this was Travis’s 45cc and he was shortlisted in a very strong TGP under Vanessa Cox. BCC was Kirsty Miller & Evan Ryan’s Rozamie Kisses at Midnight at Feorlig JW Jun Ch and Kirsty also took the RDCC with Feorlig Smarty Pants JW, very well done. We had our new little one for the Gleniren Sunshoo show team at her very first championship show at 8 months Miss Martini Royal De Costalina Suniren. In case people are wondering where the Suniren has come from, all our imports carry this affix as a collaboration between Gleniren and Sunshoo. You get no prizes if you have worked out how we got to that name. We were thrilled to bits that Mimi was not only awarded BP but also the RBCC. So well done Glenn, I guess that’s the side-kick made redundant! Congratulations to Jan Roosens her breeder. BV was Angela Skelton and Anne Fraser’s Winterwings Sea The Stars. Congratulations to not only the principal winners but also those that got placed amongst the cards.

The next day was The Papillon Butterfly Dog of Scotland Champ show held at Lanark. Here Breed Specialist Mrs Theresa Collins was also having a first time appointment. This is a nice venue and as in previous years the hall was shared with the Pomeranian exhibitors.

Elaine Davidson the clubs secretary wishes to thank Dogshowtrolleys.com for providing the prize for their special raffle, Royal Canin for sponsoring the classes, Valerie Lockhart for her continued support of the Club, Liz Anderson for providing the prize for the special exhibitor number raffle, the stewards Alison Joyce, Daphne Watson (Peter Crowe) and Joan Savage for keeping the ring in order. Also to the to the hardworking committee for making Elaine’s life easier.

The winners for the show were as follows; BCC/ BIS Jorgealin Moon Magic sh cm. I am sure a very delighted Lynne George-Evans as her affix also took the RBCC owned by Jean & Roger Banfield and Caroline Lee- Slater Jorgealin Cast A spell For Kingshaven. DCC/RBIS Liz Anderson & Fraser Comrie-Bryant’s Frasermar Storm In The Snow, handled by Peter Keirnan. RDCC Lesley Morton’s Ablazzor Harley’s Wild Echo At Lynflyer. BP Irene & Glenn Robb & Jan Roosens Miss Martini Royal De Costalina Suniren.

At the Devon County Show Sue Stanbury had a super show. The breed judge was Mr L. Hunt (Setthornes) the TGP judge Mr Roger Chaston (Bricklands) and BIS Mr Louis Kruger (Whitesquall). Inixia Bella Bella took TGP4 and TPGP2 also Inixia Delightful Dan JW shCM took BVIG and RBVIS. That was some exciting show for you Sue. Susie & Margaret Orchard had success taking Best RBOB in the respected group with Ringlands Yoko’s Solo at Panspayon.

Karen and Steve Maskell and Maxine Waller at Newton Aycliffe DCA under Mr Peter Moorby (Swandown) took TGP2 with Kazkell What Dreams R’ Made of at Lilnrose. Karen ad Steve then also took BP/ TPGP4 with their six month old youngster Lilnrose too Vain to Dream Kazkell. This little one also at Coventry and DKA under Nick Farrugia (Cholas) went TPGP2. What a great start for this little ones show career. Gill Geary with Taliesyn Black Walnut took TGP4.

At Christchurch and New Forest CS, Pat Munn had a successful day with Ringlands Timeless Gift taking TGP2 under Simon Parsons and Mr. Derfel John Ownes also taking a TPGP1 under Jean Ockenden. Well done Pat.

At Ruthin Canine Open Show I spent a lovely day in the open air, quite a shock to the system showing outside for the first time this year. The Papillon judge was Gavin Robinson (Soletrader) who was also judging the TGP/ TPGP and BIS. Delighted to say that Irene & Glenn Robb and Jan Roosen’s Miss Martine Royal De Costalina Suniren took TGP2 / TPGP1/ BPIS. Little Mimi did so well as the ground was very up hill and down dale and she made me smile as she made sure she didn’t fall down any of the holes along the way. What good experience, for the months ahead!

The following day at Chester City & County CS Glenn came along to handle Mimi as she was going to Scotland with him. Here she took under Mr C Wills (Hugapug) TPGP1. So as with us, who ever has a puppy taking their first steps, enjoy and have lots of fun.

Sad news from Scotland that Carole Paul (Meerwings) has passed away,. Her late husband John and Carole were passionate about animals. She won a cc at Border Union with Ghost in Monte Carlo. Gained a RDCC with Meerwings Murphy’s Dream at Manchester, when it was held in G- Mex. Another RBCC was with Meerwings A Butterfly Story under Pat Munn at Wetherby Racecourse. She also enjoyed helping with the training and racing of their Siberian huskies and spent many happy weekends attending husky racing rallies.

Carole was a unique lady who loved her dogs and wildlife, people socialising, dancing and fun. She was my regular travelling companion with Anne Macgregor to many shows, Open and Championship far and wide and they shared the Craigaber affix.

Anne says Carole was great company and they were never short on laughs. She did not drive, although she usually made a good job of navigating them to the further flung shows , nor did she ever get to grips with the computer she owned, for a time, a mobile phone the size of a brick, although she usually forgetting the key number to use it! Sending much love and light to her family and close friends.

Alan Pearch has asked me to reminder all trophy winners from last years show if they could return their trophies to Mr Nash or give them to a committee member at Southern Counties or Windsor shows or in fact any of the shows before the SOE show in August. Thank you.

Enjoy your shows, that is what it is all about.
